Suspended cradles — also known as suspended access platforms — are safe working areas hung from cables that can be raised and lowered into position using powered winches. They are widely used for maintenance, cleaning, inspection and installation work on the external and internal sides of buildings and structures.

Suspended from a gantry, structure or a specially fabricated roof-rig system, cradles are a quick and convenient way to access heights or depths out of range of conventional methods. They create no obstruction at ground level, generally need no tying-in to the building face, and — with little noise or vibration — are ideal for working at height on occupied buildings. A cradle consists of modular deck units, guardrails, winches and headgear, configurable from 2 to 12 metres.
